Folk Tales of the Monarch, a "folk opera" of sorts, speaks of the classic human struggle within all of us. Loosely conceptualized within the Victorian era, Carrie Beehan portrays seven characters of both genders, many of which are interchangeable and could be seen as either internal voices within her psyche, life-like depictions of family, lovers or misogynist's, society, or all of the above.

The Folk Tales "heroine" calls on magic and ritual to revert in time and is guided from her boudoir-where she contemplates suicide, to a factory where she is an ambivalent sexual-submissive, a field in which she is targeted by a male aggressor, a gypsy caravan where family patterns are clarified, and lastly, in a royal dining hall as the entire Monarchy join together for a celebratory feast and conclusion. Our Folk Tales are familiar stories but told in a manner that in closing leaves you wondering who the villain or villainous really is and which one has finally met their peace.
