Aditya Gowtham ‘The Visit’

Synopsis
‘The Visit’ is a film about Sarika, a young independent woman in her early
thirties working as an architect in the city of Ahmedabad. Her mother-whom
she has a distant and troubled relationship with- comes visiting for a couple of
days. The mother also happens to be a TV addict. The film is a slice- of-life
drama, which explores the daughter-mother interaction or lack off.

Background of the film
This film was made for my final diploma submission for my film course. The
motivation behind picking this subject for the film was to make a personal film,
or rather a film which I had a personal connect to. I wanted to explore a
daughter and mother relationship, especially a dysfunctional one. In terms of
treatment, I was inspired quite a lot from the Dogma 95 movement since I felt it
fit in terms of content or subject, and also my budget.
