Roxana Vilk ‘I just disappeared into you’

Dance/film for the track 'I just disappeared into you' by the UK band GOL. Winner 2eme PRIX DE JURY CANNES AVIFF
Directed by award Winning Director Roxana Vilk and Shot in Scotland and Iran, the dance/film explores our relationship to nature and the nature of movement. In Iran dancing for women is banned, so The dance/ film explores contrasts the movements of dancer/choreographer Skye Reynolds, with the movements of an anonymous actress in Iran. Sections of the dance/film are also made up of thousands of still images woven together, exploring new ways capturing elements of the choreography and the 'energy' of the dance.

Bio:

I am an award winning British/Iranian artist working with the mediums of film and music. I have a Masters in Fine Arts, specialising in film from Edinburgh Art College. I am inspired by issues of identity, migration and culture clash. in the past I have been commissioned by Gulbenkian Foundation, British council, Visiting Arts to make film art works in Iraq, Iran, Norway, France, Lebanon and Scotland which have screened at festivals world wide and also been shown in Galleries. In 2014 I was nominated for the Margaret Tait Award for my film works. I have also made art house music videos which have won awards, my recent music video 'We've Got Wings' for the artist Tamtam in Los Angeles, has won best music video both at California international shorts festival, Asbury Park Music in film festival and has been selected for official screening at the prestigious Austin Music video Festival. I am represented by Probitts Arts Management in the UK and Bohemia in Los Angeles.
