Synopsis: video and sound experiment exploring my connection with the grandfather I never met personally
Bio: Ioana Turcan was born in Romania and received a BA in Image for Film and Television and a MA in Documentary Filmmaking from the Babeș-Bolyai University.
She is currently in her 3rd year in the MFA Film Program at the College of Visual and Performing Arts, Syracuse University, NY as a Fulbright Alumna, an award she received for her studies in USA.
Her work has been exhibited at film festivals around the world Poland, Czech Republic, Switzerland, India, Romania and USA, including Cannes Film Festival – Romanian New Waves Programming and Visions du Reel and received a nomination from Romanian Academy Awards.
She works primarily in film as well as video art, installation and performance. She co-founded an NGO in Romania, B4Film, that focuses on non-formal education. Her extra-curricular activities include competing for Syracuse Boxing Club and organizing events for Graduate Student Organization VPAg.
